Membership Process

Review the contractor qualifications and application steps below.

View Contractor Qualifications

• Texas roofing experience: At least one year in roofing or waterproofing in Texas.
• Physical Texas location: The company must maintain a fixed physical business location in Texas.
• Active business status: The company must be active and in good standing with the Texas Secretary of State, when applicable.
• Professional sponsors: One current RCAT Contractor Member and one current RCAT Associate Member.
• General liability insurance: At least $300,000 for residential roofing or $500,000 for commercial roofing.
• Compliant marketing: The company website and marketing materials must comply with Texas Unauthorized Practice of Public Adjusting requirements.

1. Choose your membership type.
   Select the contractor or associate application.
2. Complete the application.
   Submit your company, contact and supporting information.
3. Provide required documents.
   Contractor applicants submit sponsor information and proof of insurance.
4. Await Board approval.
   New applications require approval through RCAT’s membership process.
5. Activate your membership.
   Approved applicants receive a dues invoice. Membership becomes active once payment is received.

RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor Program

Texas does not require roofing contractors to hold a state license. The voluntary RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor Program gives qualified roofing professionals an opportunity to earn a respected industry credential by meeting program requirements and passing roofing, business and safety exams.

Membership and licensing are separate programs that work well together. Roofing professionals may apply for the RCAT license separately from membership. State membership adds ongoing support through access to online CEU courses for annual renewal requirements, member pricing on licensing exams and discounts on eligible in-person education and training events.
