TEXAS LAW REQUIRES THAT HOMEOWNERS PAY THIER INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLES!

Picture
Any contractor telling you they will cover your deductible is personally subject to criminal charges effective 9/1/2019 and they should not to be trusted. You are NOT getting “a great deal” - it’s cutting corners and breaking the law!
IF A CONTRACTOR IS WILLING TO BREAK THE LAW WHAT ELSE WILL THEY DO?
A reputable contractor cannot afford to simply "waive" your deductible. They must make up for that loss somewhere and that typically comes at the homeowners expense. Corners are often cut with materials/products and during installation, also insurance claims invoices are often over inflated or falsified to make up for lost revenue.
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO INTENTIONALY DEFRAUD OR DECIEVE THE INSURANCE COMPANY!
YOU could be charged with a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the claim amount even if the "roofing contractor" misstated the facts. YOU are the one under contract with the insurance company and equally responsible if the law is violated. Read the Texas Codes below:

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO
REQUEST A RCAT LICENSED ROOFING CONTRACTOR

The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor  program was developed to increase consumer protection and secure public confidence in the roofing industry by elevating the roofing contractor's knowledge, skills and professionalism through voluntary self-regulation.

The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas requires that roofing contractors go through a rigorous screening and examination process before they can become licensed and they must obtain yearly continuing education. RCAT takes the pressure off of you and takes on the responsibility of declaring that a contractor has met the standards of a true professional contractor. Both commercial and residential roofing contractors can become licensed. The principal goal of this voluntary licensing program is to increase contractor professionalism and consumer confidence in the roofing industry, as well as to assure homeowners, architects, developers, and general contractors that their roofing contractor is experienced, reliable and knowledgeable.

To find a RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractors in your area, search our directory by your zip code using the "Find A Contractor" link on this page, or call the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas today at (800) 997-6631 or (512) 251-7690.
Safe Roofs Over Texas is a RCAT initiative with the sole mission of raising public awareness about the widespread, devastating effects of roofing fraud, how to avoid falling victim, and how we can protect consumers everywhere. Learn more at:
